Where’s your head at?

Staying healthy is as much about looking after your mind as it is about looking after your body. As a young person you might feel under pressure at times when there’s so much happening in your life with school, friends and your family.

Emotions...    Body image...    Sadness...    Issues with food...    Anxiety...
Self harm...    Panic attacks...    Fears....    Stress...    Suicidal thoughts...

So, does your head hurt?

If you’re struggling with any of these problems, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Known as mental health difficulties, lots of young people suffer with them and unfortunately they can be misunderstood by others around you. There are, however, lots of places to get help and support from people who do understand, helping you take that weight off your mind.

Top tips...

Here are six things you can do every day to help you stay well and improve your well being:

Connect - Make time for the people around you like family, friends, neighbours or others in your community and enjoy the benefits those connections bring.

Be active - Get moving and increase your physical exercise with a bit of walking, cycling, dance or sport and see how great you feel.

Take notice -See the world around you and discover what’s important to you by discussing what you see and how you feel with others.

Keep learning -Set yourself a challenge of trying something new or picking up an old hobby and see your confidence grow.

Give -- Do a good deed and help out a friend or stranger which will make you feel good about yourself and make them feel better too.

Do something you enjoy - whether that is reading, listening to music or just chilling, if you enjoy it, do it!
